Language Assessment

Anyone wishing to join a LINC class must first complete a language assessment. The LINC Assessors evaluate clients’ language and training needs and refer immigrants to the appropriate LINC, ELT, ESL, or other program providers according to the learners’ abilities, interests and needs.

In the Durham Region, Durham LINC is the only language assessment centre. Our certified Canadian Language Benchmark assessors administer the Canadian Language Benchmarks Assessment (CLBA), the Canadian Language Benchmarks Placement Test (CLBPT), the Canadian Language Benchmarks Literacy Assessment (CLBLA), and the Enhanced Language Training Placement Test (ELTPT). The assessment is valid for 6 months and is accepted in all LINC/ELT programs across the country.
